suggest 2 ways men and women have been represented in the walking dead.
the men in walking dead represented as being strong and the protectors of the group, the women are all shown as being dependent on the men.
Laurie is a woman who believes she has lost her husband and that she will have to bring up her son on her own. Ric the sherrif who is her husband is in fact a live but in the hospital. Shane who is Rics partner and friend takes on the responsibility to look after Laurie and her son, this leads to them having an affair.
this connotes that Laurie feels the need to have a man too look after her and her son, showing women are dependent on men to survive.
Merl is shown as a stereotypical rascist redneck, he is disliked by the group as he tried to assert his authority on the rest of the group, to emphasise his authority he is shot using a low angled shot.
after he is hit over the head by Ric and is left to die by the group.
